Can I make changes after construction has started?

To answer this question, it's best to start with an overview of the selection process:

  • Prior to signing your Purchase Agreement, you'll select your homesite, floor plan, and structural options. Those selections are the foundation of your Purchase Agreement.
  • During the 2 weeks after your Purchase Agreement was signed, you have the opportunity to review and change your structural options before they're locked in.
  • Once your structural options are final, you'll meet with our designer to select your design options such as flooring, countertops, cabinetry, plumbing, and hardware. Those options should be signed off on and final 30 days after you signed your contract.
  • During the 30 days after contract, you'll also have the chance to meet with our low voltage experts to decide on wiring and prewiring for things like data, cable, and security systems.

After all of these selections are final, you will review them once more time prior to construction starting at your Pre-Construction meeting. This is your chance to make sure everything you selected is accounted for in the final construction plans.

At this time, permits based on your home's structure have already been submitted and materials have been ordered, so no last second changes should be taking place. However, in the off chance that something is missing or incorrect in the final construction plans, it will be rectified before building begins.

Once construction begins, structural and design changes are not permitted. This keeps your home on schedule and within budget. Changes at this stage can create significant delays, create a lot of operational issues, and open the door for mistakes to happen due to conflicting paperwork.

Overall, we make sure you have ample opportunity to think over and review your selections early in the process to ensure a smooth and surprise-free build!
